The Trail Isn’t.
When a commercial customer closes, relocates, or changes its business identity, unanswered calls don’t tell the whole story. BSA traces the business, identifies decision-makers, and investigates assets to help you assess your recovery options.
Commercial Skip Tracing

Know More Before You Decide What Comes Next
Locating a business answers where. Asset investigation helps answer a different question: what does the available information suggest about recovery?
BSA researches publicly available and commercially relevant information to develop a clearer picture of a business’s apparent assets, operations, obligations and related interests. Those findings can help creditors assess what steps warrant further consideration.
Real Property
Research real estate ownership and property records associated with the business or relevant parties.
UCC Filings
Review financing statements that may identify secured interests, collateral relationships or existing creditor positions.
Liens & Judgments
Identify available records that may reveal existing claims, judgments or other obligations.

Litigation & Bankruptcy Records

INDUSTRY CONTEXT
Investigations built around the account.
Every industry leaves a different paper trail. The contract, the payment chain, and the way businesses in that industry reorganize all shape what we research and who we contact.
Oil & Gas
Operators change, working interests are sold, and service companies re-form under new names. Research into operator records, related entities, and principals helps clarify who can address an unpaid energy account.

Carriers and brokers can shut down and reappear under new operating authority. Comparing business filings, addresses, and principals helps connect an unpaid freight balance to the people behind it.

Acquisitions, mergers, and restructurings can leave a portfolio company unsure which entity owes the balance. Entity and ownership research helps identify the right party before recovery efforts resume.

Once findings are verified, commercial mediation can reopen communication, and an in-field visit can confirm a location in person. Substantial balances may call for a large balance collection strategy, and qualifying claims can be reviewed for referral through our nationwide legal network.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What to know before an investigation.
What information should I provide?
Start with the debtor’s business name, last known contact information, invoices, agreements and recent communications. Prior addresses, related company names and the names of people involved can help establish a useful research trail.
Can you research a business that moved or changed its name?
We compare available business filings, address history, officers and related entities to develop leads and verify connections. A shared name or address alone does not establish responsibility for a debt.
Does locating assets guarantee payment?
No. A record may suggest an ownership interest, but existing liens, secured interests, exemptions, disputes and other facts can affect recovery. Findings inform the next decision; they do not guarantee payment or establish that an asset is available for collection.
Are investigations limited to Texas?
No. BSA works with commercial creditors nationwide and researches connections wherever the business, its principals, or its assets lead. Our location guides cover markets across the country, with the deepest coverage in Texas.
What happens after you verify the findings?
We assess the information alongside the account documentation. The next step may involve contacting the right decision-maker, negotiation, additional research or discussion of escalation options.
