Financial Investigations & Forensic Account Review

The Excuses Change.
The Numbers Don’t.

“We already paid.” “The invoice is wrong.” When explanations conflict with your records, we reconcile the account, verify available payment evidence, and document the disputed balance—so your next collection step starts with facts.

When the Story Doesn’t Add Up

Disputes Stall Accounts.
Records Move Them Forward.

A single balance can hide short pays, unapplied credits, disputed quantities, and offsets that nobody has explained. Another demand for the total may leave the same questions unanswered.

We review the account line by line to separate supported charges, valid adjustments, and unresolved items. That gives negotiations a clear starting point and shows what additional evidence is needed.

A documented balance gives the next conversation direction.

What We Review

Follow the Entries.
Find the Difference.

We work from records you provide, information supplied by the debtor, and other information lawfully available for the account. Each review follows the issues in the file.

Payment History & Reconciliation

Match invoices, payments, credits, and adjustments to establish the supported balance and identify entries that do not line up.

Disputed Balances

Compare pricing, quality, and quantity explanations with agreements, purchase orders, delivery records, and correspondence.

Short Pays, Deductions & Offsets

Identify the basis for chargebacks, deductions, and credits, distinguishing supported adjustments from items that need explanation.

Payment Claims

Check remittance advice and available payment evidence against your ledger. Was payment received, returned, misapplied, or still unverified?

Contract & Guarantee Records

Organize payment terms, signed revisions, fee provisions, and guarantees. Questions about enforceability are identified for counsel’s review.

Payment Patterns & Available Records

Assess documented payment patterns and financial information available for review, including explanations offered for hardship or transfers.

Each finding identifies what the records support, what remains disputed, and any information still needed.

Hardship or Avoidance?

Can’t Pay and Won’t Pay
Need Different Strategies.

Documented financial difficulty may support a structured payment arrangement. An explanation that conflicts with the records calls for further questions and a different negotiation.

We assess the evidence available, identify what remains uncertain, and recommend whether to negotiate, mediate, investigate further, or prepare the account for legal review.

When the Stakes Are Higher

Organized for Negotiation.
Prepared for Counsel’s Review.

A reconciled account gives independent counsel a clearer starting point for evaluating a claim. We organize the supporting records and flag issues that need legal or specialist analysis.

The Right Scope. The Right Professional.

BSA is a commercial collection agency, not a CPA firm. Formal accounting opinions, expert reports, and testimony require a separate engagement with appropriately credentialed professionals.

When specialist work is indicated, we can coordinate next-step discussions through independent counsel. Any proposed engagement and costs are discussed with you for approval.

Before You Get Started

Straight
Answers.

Understand the review, its scope, and the next step.

Are you a CPA firm?

No. We review account records as part of commercial collection efforts. BSA does not provide audits, accounting opinions, tax advice, or expert forensic accounting reports. Specialist work requires a separate engagement with an appropriately credentialed professional.

Can you help with a disputed invoice?

Yes. Send the invoice, agreement or purchase order, performance or delivery records, and dispute correspondence. We compare the explanation with the available records and recommend a collection approach.

Can you trace every payment or transfer?

We review payment evidence and transaction information available for the account. Private bank records and a debtor’s complete finances are not automatically accessible. We identify gaps and discuss whether further investigation or counsel’s involvement is appropriate.

What should I send first?

Start with the ledger, unpaid invoices, payment history, agreement, and communications explaining the dispute. Include credits, remittance advice, delivery or project records, and signed guarantees when available.

Will the review help if legal action is considered?

An organized account history helps counsel evaluate the balance, disputed items, and supporting evidence. Counsel determines what additional work is needed and advises you on legal options.

Is this separate from asset investigation?

Account review establishes what the available billing and payment records support. Asset investigation examines information relevant to recovery prospects. The two can support the same account when its circumstances call for both.

What does it cost?

You pay a collection fee only when we recover. Any proposed legal action, specialist engagement, or associated costs are discussed with you for approval before proceeding.

Does a documented balance guarantee payment?

No. Findings clarify the account and support the next decision. Disputes, financial circumstances, available assets, and other factors can still affect recovery.
