When Payment Stalls
Follow the Paper Trail
A delivered load can still turn into an unpaid account. When routine follow-up stops producing answers, we look at the records behind the balance and the issues standing between you and payment.
Confirm the Balance
Review invoices, rate confirmations, bills of lading, proof of delivery, and payment records to establish what was agreed, what was paid, and what remains owed.
Address the Dispute
Identify whether payment is being held up by a missing document, a rate disagreement, an accessorial charge, or a deduction. Professional negotiation keeps the discussion focused on the records and a practical resolution.
Reach the Right Contact
When accounts payable stops responding, we work to identify current business contacts and decision-makers who can address the balance, using persistent follow-up and skip tracing when appropriate.
If the account involves a closed broker, an assigned receivable, or questions about who owes payment, those details help determine the next step—including attorney-network review when appropriate.
Our Recovery Process
A Clear Path From Overdue to Resolution
You should know how your account is being handled. Our process moves from an initial review to focused collection efforts, with practical next steps based on the debtor's response and the facts of the account.

Professional outreach and persistent follow-up move the conversation toward payment. Any proposed settlement or payment arrangement is discussed with you for authorization.
-
04

Freight Collection FAQs
Answers for the Accounts Holding Up Payment.
Clear records and the right questions help define a practical path forward.
What should I do if a broker or shipper hasn’t paid after delivery?
Gather the invoice, rate confirmation, signed bill of lading, proof of delivery, and your follow-up history. Confirm the balance and agreed payment terms. If routine outreach is no longer producing answers, submit the account for review so we can assess the records and practical next steps.
What documents do you need to review an unpaid freight account?
Start with invoices, rate confirmations or contracts, bills of lading, proof of delivery, debtor contact details, and payment records. Include emails about the balance, any deductions or disputes, and supporting records for additional charges. We will identify any information gaps during review.
Can an account still be reviewed if the broker has gone out of business?
Yes. A closed business does not by itself establish whether recovery is possible. We review the company, documentation, account history, and available information to assess the next step. Questions about responsibility for payment or potential legal remedies may require attorney-network review.
Can you help with unpaid detention, layover, and other accessorial charges?
We can review documented commercial charges such as detention, layover, and lumper fees. Agreed terms, approvals, time records, receipts, and related correspondence help establish the basis for the balance and address disputes.
What if the customer short-pays an invoice or deducts a cargo claim?
We compare the billed amount, payments received, contract terms, and the stated reason for the deduction. Include any cargo-claim records and correspondence. The approach depends on the facts and documentation; a disputed deduction is not automatically collectible.
What if a factoring company is involved?
Let us know about any factoring arrangement, assignment, or notice of assignment before placing the account. We need to clarify who owns the receivable, who has authority to pursue it, and whether payments or prior collection activity affect the outstanding balance.
How do your contingency collection fees work?
Collection fees are based on funds recovered under the terms of your agreement. The applicable rate and account requirements are explained before placement. Any proposed legal referral, filing costs, or other separately authorized expenses are discussed before proceeding.
Will collection efforts damage my relationship with a customer?
Our approach uses professional communication and negotiation, with attention to the business relationship involved. Tell us if the customer relationship is especially sensitive. No collection approach can guarantee how a customer will respond, and proposed settlements or payment arrangements require your authorization.
